Today found us in Fort Portal where we addressed the @NUP_Ug leaders from the Western Regions of Tooro, Bunyoro, Ankole, Rwenzori and Kigezi. I am extremely impressed by their enthusiasm and passion. We discussed commitment, resilience and faith in the face of so many challenges and obstacles. Despite the heavy police and military deployment, our leaders showed to learn and renew their commitment to the cause. #PeoplePowerOurPower
Last night, the world lost a giant. Prof. Ngugi wa Thiong'o. He wielded his pen like a spear: exposing oppression and inspiring generations to fight for justice. His works were not just literature, they were liberation manifestos. I send my condolences to Kenyans and all who cherish freedom for losing this revolutionary storyteller and a great son of Africa. His words live on, though, urging us to build the free and just world that he dreamed of. Rest in lasting power, Prof. Ngugi.
These 12 @NUP_Ug comrades have been violently arrested today in Kitgum District, as they met at a hotel to prepare for our planned visit to the district! They're spending the night at Kitgum Central Police Station. Charges? Holding an unlawful assembly! You can imagine the madness. The criminal regime, seized with panic, is in overdrive trying to sow fear amongst our people, but they will never succeed in breaking our collective resolve! #FreeUganda
Very saddened by the death of comrade Damalie Musiime who has been a staunch and reliable mobiliser of the @NUP_Ug especially in Eastern Uganda. I send my sincere condolences to her family, fellow comrades, and the country at large for losing such a patriot. Her burial is taking place in Bugiri District, where I am being represented by Deputy President Mama Lina Zedriga and many other comrades. May her gentle soul rest in peace🙏
NUP SIGNS MOU WITH TESO WAR CLAIMANTS Very humbled to spend part of today with thousands of elders from Teso Sub-region, the vast majority of them being war-claimants. Most of these were very rich people in the past, who lost their loved ones, cows and several other properties in the late 1980s. Every successive year, Museveni’s regime has been promising to compensate these people in vain. Many of the claimants have since died while others are very old and dealing with various ailments without medical care. With all the money the criminal regime steals and what they put to waste, they have spent 40 years lying to these senior citizens! Whenever some little money has been released in the past, it goes to a few selected NRM apologists. Some regime-leaning leaders have turned their plight into a business! We signed a Memorandum of Understanding with these elders, proclaiming our commitment to their plight. We shall work tooth and nail now and in future to ensure justice for them and all other marginalised communities across the country. They pledged to support the @NUP_Ug in its endeavour to remove the regime and embark on the process of rebuilding our nation. As a gesture of our commitment to their plight, we handed over seven calves to selected elders. The calves are a symbol of hope and a new beginning for themselves and their children. Very grateful to Hon. Julius Ocen and all organisers for the effort. Eyalama noi noi!
The criminals continue to abduct our people! Zaidi Mohammed a strong @NUP_Ug supporter has just been abducted from his boda boda stage on Kampala Road, Butabika, Nakawa. He was taken by five men and one woman, all in civilian clothes and heavily armed. They were driving a white Toyota Noah, license plate number UBM 996E, and were seen heading towards Lugogo bypass on breakneck speed! #FreeAllPoliticalPrisonersinUganda #StopAbductionsUG
Today in Gulu City, we addressed the @NUP_Ug leaders from the four sub-regions of Karamoja, Acholi, Lango and West-Nile. Our message focused on UNITY, RESILIENCE and DETERMINATION to bring about change. #PeoplePowerOurPower https://t.co/ZXdpCeXahI
Power switched off in Lira, as we address our people on Voice of Lango FM!!! COWARDS!
During a meeting this Wednesday in Gulu, between the European Union Delegation and Gen. Salim Saleh (Dictator Museveni’s brother), the German Ambassador to Uganda H. E. Matthias Schauer and other ambassadors expressed deep concern about the inflammatory social media posts made by Museveni’s brutal son - often followed by actions. This followed the threats Museveni’s son issued against EU Ambassadors when they visited our Headquarters recently to discuss, among others, the deteriorating human rights situation in Uganda. Just hours after the Gulu meeting, the regime has retaliated, now ridiculously accusing Ambassador Schauer of sponsoring unidentified rebel groups to overthrow it! What more? They have stated that most of those so-called rebels are supporters of @NUP_Ug! This is an all-too-familiar script by the regime: manufacturing 'threats' to shield itself from accountability and justify its relentless violent persecution of whoever demands an end to its dictatorship and corruption. It is the same script the regime uses to rationalize the abduction, torture, and disappearance of our comrades by falsely accusing them of being criminals in an attempt to silence and intimidate us. We hope that the world can recognize these tactics for what they truly are and continue holding the regime accountable for its transgressions against the people of Uganda and humanity as a whole! The well-meaning people of Uganda will not be cowed into silence, but will continue pursuing all lawful means to put an end to the regime of blood and shame. #FreeUganda
Despite the regime stepping up the persecution of supporters of the @NUP_Ug, we continue to attract new members into the Party. This afternoon, we formally welcomed over 470 of them. I have stressed it to these comrades that NUP is not just a political party; it's a revolutionary movement firmly committed to ridding Uganda of dictator Museveni and Musevenism. No matter what happens, we have only one way to go: forward until the the dictator falls! #PeoplePowerOurPower #NUPEverywhere #FreeAllPoliticalPrisoners #BringBackOurPeople
We have been very honored to welcome into the National Unity Platform, this afternoon, Members of Parliament who have officially joined the Party. These include Hon. Luttamaguzi Ssemakula Paulson Kasana (Nakaseke South County), Hon. Joan Namutaawe (Woman MP, Masaka District), Hon. Nsanja Patrick Kayongo (Ntenjeru South), Hon. Nantongo Fortunate (Woman MP, Kyotera District), Hon. Lukwago John Paul Mpalanyi (Kyotera Countty), Hon. Batuwa Timothy Lusala (Jinja Municipality West), and Hon. Isabirye David Aga (Jinja North Division). You're very welcome to home, our Honourable comrades! #WeAreRemovingaDictator!
Speaking at our mass recruitment presser https://t.co/za0OsjEX9N
Although he often justified repression and spoke with great insensitivity about the oppression and suffering of the people of Uganda, I implore us to demand for the fair treatment of Twine Charles, a police officer who has been missing since last Wednesday. Several media outlets have reported that he was picked up from Police Headquarters and taken to an unknown location by SFC operatives! Twine, like every Ugandan deserves to be treated in accordance with the law, even if he is suspected to have committed any offence. His family deserves to know where he is and to have reasonable access to him. We cannot continue to live in such a lawless country! Like we have repeatedly said, NO ONE IS SAFE IN A SINKING BOAT. Assuredly, EVERYONE will taste the effects of military rule, one way of another, until all of us work collectively to put an end to this criminality.
As the week came to and end, I was happy to share a word with our comrades studying at the @NUP_Ug leadership school in Kamokya. I also attended a memorial mass for the late musician Paul Kafeero at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Makindye yesterday, and later on the finals of the 6th Edition of the NUP footsoldiers' football tournament in Bugolobi, Nakawa Division. The 'Firebase Army' team won the men's tournament, while 'Kampala Central' team won the women's. #PeoplePowerOurPower
Delighted yesterday, to interact with various leaders from Eastern Uganda. Despite the ongoing persecution and other challenges, we're continously organising our people. Our struggle for freedom and democracy will most definitely end in victory. #PeoplePowerOurPower https://t.co/vrxehdf25H
We attended today's mass and observed Mothers' Day from Rubaga Cathedral. I was filled with pride and honor as I watched my wife and the day's guest speaker, @BarbieItungoK, emphasize the role of mothers in raising upright, God-fearing children. She graciously gave me a moment out of her alloted time to say a prayer for comrade Eddie Mutwe and all political prisoners, and to encourage all unmarried couples out there to 'make things official'. A very happy Mothers' Day to all mothers out there, once again!
Dear Maama, Everything I am, I owe it to you! Thank you for not giving up on me and I hope I make you proud. I miss you. Happy Mother’s Day. https://t.co/XgKKbdpSl0
Aggravated Robbery is the new tool in a dictator Museveni's handbook. Most comrades who are arrested for political reasons end up being slapped with this offence- just like comrades Achileo Kivumbi, Eddie Mutwe, Gaddafi Mugumya and Smart Wakabi! The latest victims are thirteen comrades who were violently arrested in Masaka as they attended a football match organised by our leaders there. They were arraigned before the Masaka Magistrate's Court and charged with stealing a mobile phone worth 100,000 shillings, and 100,000 shillings cash! Thirteen people! Can you imagine the criminality and abuse of court processes? Until we rise up and say ENOUGH to this nonsense! #FREEUGANDA
Here is a letter I wrote to some of the elders of Ankole and Kigezi Sub-regions regarding the barbaric actions of Gen. Museveni and his brutal son, Muhoozi Kainerugaba. They have a moral duty to disassociate themselves from the criminality committed in the name of their tribe, and perhaps help save our nation from a terrible situation. We want to always go on record in every situation.
For those who missed the program last night on NTV Uganda, you may watch through this link and spread the message! #PeoplePowerOurPower https://t.co/nkWghpRaf4
