This morning at the Parliament of Uganda, I was delighted to join other leaders as our team in Parliament launched the Alternative Budget Priorities under the theme, "Combating Corruption: a Sure Path to Effective Service Delivery". I thank the team, under the leadership of Rt. Hon. @JoelSsenyonyi and the Shadow Cabinet for doing an incredible job in highlighting our alternative vision for Uganda. Many times, regime apologists claim that we only criticize Museveni and not present policy alternatives. Well, every year, our team has consistently put out what we would do different if we were in government. My communication focused on one simple truth: corruption is the one greatest evil our country faces. And its chief priest is Gen. Museveni and his criminal regime. Therefore, you cannot fight corruption until it's chief priest is removed and replaced by a government which will truly serve the people of Uganda.

This morning, we attended Eid al-Fitr prayers at the Kiteezi Main Mosque in Kyadondo East Constituency. In his teaching, Sheikh Muhsin Burhan Kiti condemned the injustices within our society and charged those in authority to always understand that Allah is the ultimate. I implored all Muslims across the country to continue praying for our country, and more particular, for the political prisoners. I thank all of you friends who attended prayers and shared the blessing of Eid with others, more so, the underprivileged.

We started off the day sharing food items for Eid with some of our comrades, the foot-soldiers who have been fasting during the Holy Month of Ramadan. After that, we visited Nakawa, Kawempe and the Central Divisions of Kampala City where we delivered Eid packages with the women and men who sweep and clean our roads and streets every day. These people, who are mostly elderly women, work amidst very tough conditions. We've seen them protest over poor pay which is often delayed. We've seen stories of how they're often attacked by criminals or knocked by reckless drivers. We've seen how some of them have lost lives in floods caused by poor drainage. We decided to reach out to them to recognise and appreciate the important work they do, but also to highlight their plight. Very humbled by their warm reception. Eid Mubarak!

We've just been notified of the abduction of our comrade Kamya Shafiq, commonly known as Skool Feez. He was picked up from Jinja City and taken away by heavily armed men in civilian clothes. Onlookers say he was forced into the boot of a probox vehicle in which these thugs were moving and taken to an unknown destination. They managed to take some pictures of these criminals. Kamya who runs a sound system business has been providing his sound system for the @NUP_Ug activities in Busoga Sub-region. He has received calls ordering him to stop providing any services to NUP or face consequences. So today, they came for him. We demand for his urgent and conditional release. Supporting NUP is not a crime! #FreeUganda

Today at the @NUP_Ug headquarters, we hosted a belated Women's Day celebration to honor and celebrate the brave women playing a role in the struggle against dictatorship in Uganda. These heroines, whose sacrifices and dedication continue to inspire us all, deserve recognition for their unique contributions and firm involvement in the fight for freedom, justice, and democracy. We were honored to have in our midst comrade leaders from sister pro-change parties and forces, standing in solidarity with us as a reminder that our struggle transcends political boundaries. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to you comrades. Your presence today reaffirmed our collective commitment to building a better and more just Uganda. To every woman in this struggle, you are the backbone of our revolution. Your resilience, courage, and hope light the way for all of us on our journey toward freedom. Together, we shall overcome! Together, we shall wear the victors' crown!

2/2 We thank all comrades, here and in the diaspora, who contributed towards the victory of our brother Counsel Nalukoola. We also thank leaders in the party who did not just make financial contributions to our brother's campaign but also turned up physically at polling stations to supervise the process and protect the votes. Your efforts thwarted the regime’s attempts to rig yet another election in broad day light. We stand in solidarity with you our brothers and sisters from the media who were brutalized for covering this by-election. The regime’s violence against the press is unacceptable, and we condemn it in the strongest terms. We demand that all security personnel implicated in the gruesome attack on journalistic and comrades who participated in the election be held accountable. To the people of Uganda, let what happened in Kawempe North strengthen our resolve to fight for a better country. Let it remind us that despite the small wins along the way, our struggle for freedom and good governance is far from over. We must keep organizing, mobilizing, and resisting. We must emulate the people of Kawempe North who have showed us what a PROTEST VOTE means and requires us to do. They united, voted, and guarded their vote. If we replicate their example across other parts of the country, we can beat the dictator at his own game! Freedom is in sight!

VIDEO

Some of the videos, recorded by vigilant citizens on election day in Kawempe, specifically in Kazo-Angola and Mbogo where the military and other goons commanded by Museveni’s ministers raided and destroyed polling materials upon realising that NUP was leading by far. After beating up the media and forcing them to withdraw, I thank our people who took the risk to record some of the mayhem caused by the regime in that election. Let's have everything on record. There will be accountability for these crimes committed against our people!

This morning at Kampala Hospital we checked on journalists from different media houses who were attacked yesterday as they tried to cover the Kawempe North by-election. The journalists who were brutalised include Isano Francis, Raymond Tamale, Denis Kabugo, Abubakar Lubowa, David Ijo, Hasfa Nanvuma, Yasin Kiboyo, Owora Gabriel, Robert Mutebi, among others. The extreme violence against journalists forced all media houses to withdraw them from the field, effectively giving room to Museveni's goons to do whatever they wanted, including assaulting and abducting leaders, raiding polling stations, ballot stuffing, etc. All of us must condemn this criminality because as we have seen, all of us are potential victims. JOURNALISM IS NOT A CRIME. #FreeUganda

Congratulations, Comrade @EliasNalukoola! The people have spoken, and their will has prevailed over guns! Your hard-fought victory is a testament to the resilience and power of the people when they stand firm for what is right! As we have always said, it is very possible to overwhelm the dictator in an election no matter what stops he pulls to rig it. This win is not just yours—it belongs to all those who refuse to be silenced; the millions who refuse to stop believing in the possibility of a new, better and brighter Uganda! The struggle continues! THANK YOU PEOPLE OF KAWEMPE NORTH. PEOPLE POWER IS INDEED STRONGER THAN THE PEOPLE IN POWER. #PeoplePowerOurPower

Looking at the results from Kanyanya Police Post where most police officers and their families vote from, and UCTU where most UPDF soldiers and their families vote from, you can't help but realize that our brothers and sisters in the security forces are in captivity like every other Ugandan. At every opportunity, they vote against the criminal regime which often orders them to brutalize us. One day, they will join all other citizens in pushing for freedom! WE SHALL OVERCOME!

The criminal regime has blocked our planned last rally at Bwaise 1, claiming that it is on the route to be used by Dictator Museveni! Effectively meaning that NUP is not allowed to campaign in all parishes of Kawempe North. They have said we can only meet in Komamboga where our candidate NALUKOOLA already campaigned. In order not to give them the excuse of beating, abducting or killing our people, we are going back to KOMAMBOGA grounds. Let's meet there at 2:00pm. #KawempeNorth4Nalukoola

Thank you KAWEMPE NORTH for giving Hon. Nalukoola Erias Luyimbazi another massive reception today in Kyebando. In a special way, I want to thank the leaders from other political parties and formations for joining us and embracing comrade Nalukoola as the candidate for the oppressed people. Let us meet tomorrow 2:00pm, Bwaise 1, for the last rally!

We are deeply concerned by the disappearance of Mr. Charles Bukenya 'Muvawala,' a citizen of the United States hailing from Uganda. His family says he was abducted by gunmen from Nakulabye, Kampala, around 01:00 AM today morning while on a visit to Uganda. Muvawala is the Vice President of the Ugandan North American Association (UNAA), an organization that brings together Ugandans in the US. He is also a former member of Bakayimbira dramactors and a former presenter of the 'Binsangawano' show on Radio Simba. At the time of his abduction, he sent a message indicating that operatives had come for him. Given the recent spate of abductions targeting opposition-leaning Ugandans, we know that this too is the handiwork of the cowardly Museveni regime. We demand for his immediate release from illegal detention or his swift arraignment in courts of law IF he committed any offence. We also call upon all Ugandans in the diaspora to exercise extra vigililance while in Uganda because the regime, in its last days, has gone completely insane. No matter what comes our way, we shall overcome! #FreeAllPoliticalPrisonersUganda #BringBackOurPeople
