This afternoon, our comrade who heads security at the @NUP_Ug Headquarters, Achileo Kivumbi was released on 2 million shillings cash bail by the General Court Martial. Achileo was violently abducted on 1st August before spending several days under incommunicado detention and torture. He was later taken to his home where operatives planted military pips as witnessed by various onlookers. He was then arraigned before the military court and charged with unlawful possession of military equipment. While we're happy to receive our brother back, we continue to condemn this ongoing lawlessness! Achileo has spent close to three months under illegal detention, and he leaves behind many other political prisoners.
