"Make sure those baganda don't get numbers!" These words from Anita Among, the supposed Speaker of Parliament, are despicable, unacceptable and criminal! She is being openly tribalistic against the people of Buganda right inside the Parliament of Uganda situated in Buganda. If we lived under a sane system, she would have resigned by now! Under instructions from Museveni, she had come to make sure that the Coffee Amendment Bill goes through by hook or crook—leave alone the fact that she should ordinarily be a neutral presiding officer for the House. Here she is mobilising for the support of one side of the debate. With all the crimes she continues to commit, she continues to be shielded by Gen. Museveni and his criminal regime. THE PEOPLE OF UGANDA MUST RISE UP AND SAY ENOUGH TO THIS HUMILIATION!

Earlier today, we addressed the nation on various matters of national importance. We spoke about the continuing human rights violations as well as the plight of political prisoners. Whereas the regime is coercing most of them to plead guilty to crimes they did not commit in order to drive a wedge between them and ourselves, we assured them and their families that we fully understand their pain and frustration. We shall continue pushing for their eventual release and supporting them in every possible way. Close to four years under detention without trial- these are true Ugandan heroes. They are prisoners of conscience. Sadly, the regime has deployed its agents, some of whom claim to belong to the opposition, go around blaming the victims, instead of blaming the criminal regime which has imprisoned them for all this time. Thankfully, the people of Uganda know the truth. We also underscored the importance of sanctions like the ones recently imposed on human rights violators in police. However, we must remind ourselves that development partners can help us in some ways, but the biggest duty to liberate our country lies squarely on the shoulders of WE, the people of Uganda! #FreeAllPoliticalPrisonersinUganda #BringBackOurPeople

This afternoon, our comrade who heads security at the @NUP_Ug Headquarters, Achileo Kivumbi was released on 2 million shillings cash bail by the General Court Martial. Achileo was violently abducted on 1st August before spending several days under incommunicado detention and torture. He was later taken to his home where operatives planted military pips as witnessed by various onlookers. He was then arraigned before the military court and charged with unlawful possession of military equipment. While we're happy to receive our brother back, we continue to condemn this ongoing lawlessness! Achileo has spent close to three months under illegal detention, and he leaves behind many other political prisoners. Every person of good conscience must condemn and fight this criminal conduct by the Museveni regime. #FreeUganda #BringBackOurPeople #FreeAllPoliticalPrisoners

At St. Peter's Parish in Kawaala, we have attended the thanksgiving ceremony held in honor of the service of Owek. Dan Muliika to the people of Buganda Kingdom and Uganda at large. Owek. Muliika became Katikkiro of Buganda in 2005 when the Kingdom was facing one of the most difficult times in its history. He used the platform it gave him to denounce oppression, demand for fairness in how Ugandans were being governed, and deny legitimacy to those who had usurped their will by rigging elections. We pledge to continue learning from Owek. Muliika's legacy by remaining as outspoken about injustice as he was, and keeping faithful to the mission we signed up for: the mission of restoring freedom and democracy in our country!

Thank you Hon. Winnie Kiiza for putting the plight of the political prisoners into context. They're being treated exactly like the Kasese victims were treated. God willing, there will be accountability for all this abuse and humiliation of our people. https://t.co/bo5Z13OGWI

Today, I have learned that 19 of the original 32 political prisoners on the #OliviaLutaaya file have succumbed to regime coercion and pleaded guilty to crimes they did not commit after enduring nearly four years of detention without trial. It has also come to light that Mr. Museveni’s minister, Balaam, visited these political prisoners on Saturday —a non-visitation day— and pressured them to plead guilty and seek Museveni’s forgiveness or else they would never leave prison. It is worth noting that, while we have been routinely blocked from visiting these comrades, regime operatives have had unrestricted access to them during which they have held long, recorded conversations and exercised undue influence over them. Even the few times we have met them have always been brief and conducted in the presence of security operatives and prison warders who insisted on listening to every word of our conversation. This blatant abuse of rights and misuse of power must make us all to put today's events in their proper context and therefore understand instead of judging these comrades. They have spent nearly 4 years in jail without trial, and without any evidence being presented against them. By the time the comrades were forced to drop our legal team which had represented them since 2021, the lawyers had taken every step in the book to secure their freedom but without success. The regime always made it clear that this was not a legal case but a political one. They were forced to abandon their lawyers and adopt UPDF lawyers! While we understand the frustration and desperation of those who have pleaded guilty, I salute their 9 other fellow prisoners of conscience who continue to demand a fair trial or their freedom. The day of justice is near. WE SHALL OVERCOME!

Police officers tortured this family's son to death while in their custody. They then attempted to cover it up by claiming he had passed away in a car accident - just like in February 2023 when they tortured to death NUP supporter Coster Muhongya and then claimed he had slipped and fallen to his death while in their bathroom! There shall be accountability for these crimes!

A few days after I was attacked, amongst the visitors who came to check on me were these elderly ladies who are mothers or wives of our political prisoners. Their loved ones have been stuck at Kitalya and Luzira for close to four years. Many of them have now been pushed into pleading guilty to crimes they did not commit, in the hope that they can be freed. It was heartwarming to receive them, and listen to their words of encouragement and strength. We SHALL OVERCOME!

TRIBUTE TO OUR DEPUTY PRESIDENT, THE-NOW-LATE HON. JOLLY MUGISHA KYOMUGASHO Yesterday evening, we laid to rest Hon. Jolly Mugisha at her family's burial grounds in Mitooma District. It was a very sad day for all of us who loved and cherished her. 'Mama Jolly,' as we fondly called her, has been our Deputy President in charge of Western Uganda. She has been a mother to us all—very kind, soft-spoken, and always smiling. She was passionate and compassionate. Her dedication to the struggle for freedom in Uganda was unquestionable. She stood firm against all attempts by the regime to corrupt her, most notably during the time I was under house arrest when the dictator attempted to meet her thinking it would make her capitulate and abandon us. She played a pivotal role in opening the doors of Western Uganda to the National Unity Platform, effortlessly debunking the regime's propaganda that our movement was confined to Buganda. Indeed, in word and action, she unified us and demonstrated that NUP's vision transcends regional and ethnic boundaries. Her loved ones, while eulogising her, highlighted her many noble contributions to our country even before she joined NUP. But many of them observed that they had never seen her as invested, fulfilled and at peace with herself as she was during her time in NUP. Mama Jolly's legacy will continue to inspire us as we strive for a better Uganda. Her memory will live on in our hearts, and in the continued fight for freedom and justice. Once again, we deeply appreciate her family, mostly her children who accepted to share Mama Jolly with us while she lived, allowed us to be by her side when she was sick, and permitted that we take center stage in sending her off. THANK YOU. I am grateful to all of you leaders at different levels and all comrades who joined in the activities for her send-off. Very importantly, we are very grateful to the NUP Diaspora who quickly mobilized themselves and made a significant contribution towards her send-off ceremonies. THANK YOU. Rest in peace, our dear Deputy President. We will do our best to vindicate the time and energy you dedicated to Uganda while you were still alive. May God grant that the people of Uganda eventually achieve the kind of country for which you made innumerable sacrifices.

I want to sincerely thank all of you who turned up in Mbarara to celebrate with us the life of our beloved Deputy President, Hon. Jolly Mugisha. Despite the despicable actions by the police, our team made quick adjustments and ensured we had a very befitting ceremony. We appreciate one of the neighbors to our deceased Deputy President who opened his home for us after being blocked from Nyamityobora Grounds, so that we used his compound for this function. Burial is tomorrow in Mitooma. Rest in POWER Mama Jolly. You fought the good fight. You kept the faith.

In yet a cowardly, shameless move, the Museveni regime has blocked our event to celebrate the life and work of our distinguished Deputy President, Hon. Jolly Mugisha. The police has deployed heavily at Nyamityobora Grounds in Mbarara and blocked access to it. They have chased away all service providers and threatened to arrest them. This morning, the RPC, one Bagambaki Wilfred said he has orders not to allow this function, unless we get permission from the IGP! So shameless, so cowardly that even in death, they can behave in this manner.

It’s with great sadness that I announce the passing of Hon. Jolly Mugisha, the National Unity Platform Deputy President for Western Uganda. Mama Jolly has passed on this afternoon from Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital where she has been admitted in a coma for several weeks. Mama Jolly will always be remembered as a true Ugandan heroine. Other communication will be made in due course. Rest in perfect peace, comrade Maama!

At our presser today, I addressed the country on several issues including recent claims by dictator Museveni that we rigged 1 million votes in the 2021 election. After Dr. Besigye swore himself in as President of Uganda in 2016, the regime charged him with treason but eventually abandoned the case before taking it to trial. Museveni took the cowards' way out of the Besigye treason case because he knew that Dr. Besigye would produce compelling evidence that Museveni had lost the election despite being announced 'winner'. Well, this morning, we wrote to the thieving dictator challenging him to waive his illegitimate immunity so that we face off in Court over his allegations. I also highlighted plans by the Museveni regime to take away the citizens' right to vote a President and instead vest it in the hands of a few, often corrupt members of Parliament. Dictator Museveni is almost making 90 years of age and thus lacks the physical stamina and mental wherewithal to traverse the entire country looking for votes he knows he won't get. Even his favored successors are extremely unpopular and out of touch with the masses. Because of this reality, the regime wants to use Parliament to avoid a humiliating defeat and the unsustainable cost of rigging elections. I call upon all citizens to keep alert and prepare for the fight of your lives once this premonitory proposal formally reaches Parliament. Finally, I also communicated our intention to resume the nationwide mobilisation tour starting October 7th. We have already notified police and other relevant entities. #PeoplePowerOurPower

Those who speak for the criminal regime are trying hard to sanitize their crimes. You can see how they charged at us and brutalized very peaceful people. Some of the young men seen here were severely injured, simply because they were dressed in the NUP/PeoplePower attire. Once again, I am grateful to ordinary citizens who recorded these incidents. Thank you for being vigilant!!
