Yesterday, we laid to rest our brother and music producer Tony Tyrax aka Sonooka at Kalagala in Mpigi. We thank all the friends and family who made the Honourable function a success. Rest in peace comrade, until we meet again. https://t.co/VmtgYY8mZZ
The judiciary continues playing ping-pong with our jailed comrades, this time with yet another Court also refusing to hear a bail application claiming it has no jurisdiction over the matter. In the ruling on comrade Bobi Young's bail application delivered today, the Judge says the application can't be heard on its merits because the comrade's case file has never been transferred to civilian courts as the Supreme Court directed eight months ago! This circus only serves to confirm what we have always said; that like all other national institutions and organs, the judiciary has become an extension of the Museveni regime's political machinery. The intention is to break the spirits of those who dare to oppose the regime by creating the impression that, first, doing so is criminal, and, second, that once the regime captures you, your fate is sealed. Well, while the regime manipulates courts to buy time, history is recording those it's using to preside over the injustice. No matter how long they play these games, dictator Museveni will still crumble! As our lawyers actively work on a solution to end the unjust excuses still keeping our comrades to prison, we must also collectively keep pushing for the political solution we know will end the injustice once and for all: removing Museveni from power! #FreeAllPoliticalPrisonersUganda #FreeUganda
On this day 14years ago, I walked down the aisle with my best friend, the love of my life. Dear @BarbieItungoK, it is the greatest honor of my life sharing my name with you, raising a family with you and growing old with you. I love you more every passing day and I hope you feel the same way too. 24 years of a blissful love affair and 14 years of holy matrimony, what more can I ask for? Happy anniversary my love.
Very delighted today to preside over the official opening of the National Unity Platform Headquarters for Eastern Uganda, located in the heart of Iganga Town in Busoga Sub-region. We purchased this land over a year ago, and started constructing our Headquarters. I am thankful that up until this morning, nobody except those who needed to know, got to know that it was us building in that place. No wonder, the police showed up asking why we chose to surprise them with a visit. Well, because if they had known, they would have done everything possible to frustrate us. I am very grateful to our leaders and officials who worked tirelessly towards this day. The Regional Headquarters will coordinate our revolutionary activities in the entire region and be the center for coordination of our various efforts. This is testament to our commitment towards building a Party that will live beyond us! #PeoplePowerOurPowerif
Hearty congratulations Comrade Hon. @JoelSsenyonyi upon your enrollment as an Advocate, another milestone in your journey of service to the struggle and Uganda! https://t.co/tmmW7TcIuS
We've hosted a vigil at the @NUP_Ug headquarters to mourn our fallen comrade, Marinos Alexandros. Her abduction, detention, torture, and rape by soldiers at the CMI headquarters in mbuya in 2022 set off a chain of events that led to her death yesterday. One day, the brutes who caused this pain to her and her family will answer for their crimes! Rest in peace comrade Marinos. 🕊️
Marinos endured unimaginable pain in her last days on earth. The last time I checked on her in hospital was particularly difficult. We pray and hope that justice will prevail some day. Fight on, fight on. https://t.co/ewSa6ymnyw
It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the untimely passing of our dear comrade and friend, Marinos Alexandros. Marinos was abducted on 30th March 2022 in Mbuya, subjected to incredible torture and raped by regime thugs at CMI, Mbuya. Her crime? Playing Bobi Wine's music on loud speakers! When she came out and exposed the thugs, she started receiving calls threatening to kill her. Her house was raided in the night by rogues, but she was not there that night, having slept at a friend's home. This prompted her to seek refuge in Nairobi - Kenya. Even in Kenya, regime thugs attempted to abduct her, forcing her to leave Nairobi and go to the UNHCR camp where she could have some security. Out of the abduction and torture ordeal, Marinos contracted several diseases, including HIV/AIDS. Last year, she became very sick and started getting treatment while we supported her. Because of the loneliness and other conditions in the refuge camp, she returned to Uganda a few weeks back in order to get better treatment in the presence of her family. It is most unfortunate that we have lost her this morning at 1:30am. Marinos joins hundreds of other victims of the Museveni regime of blood and terror. Fight on, comrade! The struggle for freedom and democracy in Uganda is poorer without you, but the evil regime will never have the last laugh.
This morning, fellow leaders in NUP accompanied by former political prisoners and families of some of our comrades still stuck in prison have filed a Constitutional Petition challenging the recently passed UPDF Amendment Act of 2025. The Act was passed without quorum in Parliament, in violation of the Constitution, and in blatant disregard of the Supreme Court's ruling of 31st January which outlawed the trial of civilians in military courts. We are seeking from the Constitutional Court orders and declarations stopping the implementation of this draconian law as it violates constitutional safeguards on fair trial and separation of powers, and underminines judicial independence. As the National Unity Platform, we remain committed to defending the freedom of all Ugandans and fighting dictatorship using every means available. The struggle continues! #FreeAllPoliticalPrisonersinUganda #ProtestVote2026

Just concluded my tour of duty in Canada where I have spent the past two days touching base with Ugandan comrades living there and discussing ways to continue the struggle for freedom and good governance back home. Our activities included attending the 2025 NUP Canada Convention held at the Toronto Airport Marriott Hotel, church service, social events, and meetings with leaders of our Chapter in Canada. Next destination: Massachusetts, USA for the 5th Annual NUP Diaspora Convention running from 7th to 13th August, 2025.
WHERE IS ROBERT LUGYA KAYINGO? I'm very concerned about the abduction from Entebbe Airport and enforced disappearance, by security operatives, of Mr. Robert Lugya Kayingo, a lawyer and the leader of the Uganda Federal Alliance political party. It's even more concerning that the very people who abducted him over two weeks ago now claim to not have him in their custody. I stand in full solidarity with Mr. Kayingo’s family and join them in demanding for his immediate release. We must firmly resist the normalization of these abductions and hold the regime accountable. We must absolutely never allow it to become normal that in Uganda, someone can be vanished without a trace and life goes on as if nothing happened. #FreeAllPoliticalPrisonersInUganda #ANewUgandaNow #ProtestVote2026
